There was a death on the Western Highway this afternoon, but not due to a collision. At 1:30 this afternoon, 49-year-old Edmundo de Jesus Montoya was traveling in the back of a pickup truck. At mile 66 he stood up in the back of the moving truck, lost balance, and toppled out of the truck. He fell to the highway, suffered major injuries and died on the spot. The driver, 39-year-old William Swan was held for questioning.
