Do you know someone who's long been doing good deeds in a silent way, without fanfare or publicity? Well now is the time to as they say 'blow them up' for all that quiet philanthropy and not just for publicity it can earn them some money to continue doing good work. That's if you nominate these little known do-gooders to the First Caribbean Bank's Unsung Heroes Program. The programme's third year in Belize was launched today and Country Manager Steve Duncan told us how the program works.

Steve Duncan, Country Manager - FCIB
"The Unsung Heroes Program is all about trying to award, recognize, those small people in the country who do things selflessly, try to help people in the community, very often out of their own pockets without any government support. Advertisements will be in the newspapers as well as the bank branches so people can fill it out and they can nominate anybody else. We are looking for one big winner. We may be looking at two for Belize but at the end of the day, there is going to be three in the region and similar to last year we are hoping we can take first place in the region."

Nominations for the Unsung Heroes Program closes on July 29th. Local finalists will be announced in October while the regional winner will be announced in November. Last year, Belizean nurse Margaret Juan was chosen as the Caribbean's number one unsung hero, and she received a cheque for US$7,000 towards her work with the Good Shepherd Clinic in San Jose Succotz.
