Its called kite sailing, a trendy new water sport popular in Caye Caulker where participants are pulled along and above the sea by a massive u shaped kite that flies about 60 feet in the air. As this generic picture shows, it's a wind driven sport and one certainly not for the faint of heart. For the truly daring, there's no better time to feel the surge and pull of the kite than on the edge of a storm even if there is a small craft warning out. Today in Caye Caulker, British Citizen Michael Flemright ignored the warning and chose instead to be a rider on the storm. But powerful winds, estimated at 20 knots propelled the kite powerfully - and propelled it towards the shore. Flemright was snatched up by the high winds, and flung violently towards the shore, where he crashed into a building. The impact was massive and Flemright is reported to have died on the spot.
