A man riding a motorcycle was killed on the Punta Gorda Road yesterday.

32-year-old Tyron Bardalez, who was test driving a high powered ninja-style motorbike, was rounding a downhill curve on the Southern Highway 2 miles out of Punta Gorda town when the accident occurred. Apparently, he hugged the corner too tightly, and his handle clipped a signpost on the roadside and that made him lose control. Bardalez was traveling at high speed and the bike charged into a gulley on the side of the road. That's when he flew off the seat and suffered a major head injury. Police say he wore a helmet but that came off at the point of impact.

Bardalez was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The motorbike was registered to a police officer who Bardalez had proposed to buy it from.
