The Buca Shell Gas Station in Belmopan was the target of a violent armed robbery attempt on Friday night.

At exactly 8 pm, two men, wearing no masks, and one of them carrying a gun, walked into the gas station and punched the attendant and demanded money. He ran towards his female supervisor, and one of the robbers started to choke her, while the other fired two shots wildly, one of them hit, but luckily did not puncture a gas tanker that was getting ready to unload. Seeing that the gas station was under attack, customer John Bernard wade came to the rescue of the supervisor, nd that's when one the armed robbers shot him in the leg. He fired two more shots at Wade and then the pair ran off, leaving without any money. For good measure, as they ran off, they fired two more shots at the supervisor who was scrambling into the gas station's convenience store.

All this happened just a fence away from the Police Training School, also headquarters to the Dragon Unit, which responded in two minutes. But by then the pair had already escaped. Police have since detained two men from Roaring Creek.
