He is a reformed gangster who says he has changed his ways but Kevin "Bocco T" Kelly could have been a dead man after he was ambushed by gunfire yesterday in Belize City.
Bocco T says that around 1 pm he was riding on Regent Street West when a man on a bike opened fire on him. Three of the shots caught him but "Bocco T" lived to tell the tale. A tale he says made worse because after he was shot, he had to spend the entire night in police custody.
Kevin "Bocco T" Kelly, Shooting Victim
"I got shot two times in my back and my neck got grazed once, so basically it was about two or four shots but only two hit me and one grazed my neck. I then rode off just like nothing, I rode off to where the taxis are and it was like nobody helped me so I just stopped a taxi and jumped in and found my way to the hospital.
When I was released from the hospital I came home and when I came home they told me the policeman wants to see me. I went station and then the police detained me. I think Chester Williams violated my constitutional rights, and I would really want somebody look into that, because I don't see why I will get shot and then end up being detained all night last night without my medication and without eat or nothing. Here is what I have to tell them: the police are doing it the wrong way. How can you detain a man who picked up lead? I didn't belong in any lockdown so something is definitely wrong at the station.
This is kind of puzzling though how a man will just come up and fire shot at me like that."
Keith Swift,
You think somebody wants you dead?
Bocco T,
"Definitely. From the time you hear a man come shoot me in my upper back, if I didn't twist sideways I would have gotten it in my head."
Keith Swift,
Will there be any retaliation?
Bocco T,
"Never, I want everybody out there who is listening to this to get to understand what Bocco T stands for now: back in the past Bocco T stood for the streets but right now Bocco T stands for love. I will go out there on my daily basis and continue my work and everything and whosever is trying to deal with me like that, I just want them to know I am not on that speed."
Police confirm that he was detained, but they say it was to ensure that there would be no retaliation, or escalation of street violence.
