16-year-old girl from San Ignacio may never walk again after she tried to break up with her boyfriend. It's a terrifying story she says that for over two hours on Saturday, she was choked, stabbed, and had her throat cut by her 18 year old boyfriend. From her bed at the KHMH she told Keith Swift her story.

This teenage girl is lying in this hospital bed because it's the only thing she can do. The Cayo teenager should have been at school today, but instead she's in this hospital bed paralyzed, she can't feel anything below her waist. It seems a terrible misfortune, but the truth is she's lucky to be alive after a vicious attack from her crazed boyfriend.
Teen Girl,
"My neck it is cut, my spinal cord was stabbed two times, and on the side around my ribs, I got stabbed too. I can't feel below my navel down to my feet. I can't feel, I can't move."
Because she is only 16, we won't show you her face or reveal her name, but with the consent of her mother, she told me her story. She says it began on Saturday evening when she tried to break up with her 18-year-old boyfriend.
Teen Girl,
"He asked me to take a walk up the hill so we went to take a walk and then I told him I didn't want anything to do with him. So he just started to strangle me and I told him to stop and I started to cry and then afterwards I told him to please let me go but he didn't want to let go."
The girl says she tried to leave his house and that's when his anger escalated.
Teen Girl,
"He carried me and told me I wasn't going anywhere and that I was going to die right now. So he took me into the bush and he started to choke me. I felt like I could breathe no more and I told him to stop and I will do anything for him to let me go. He went to drink some water and he asked me if I wanted to drink some water. I told him no and so he went inside and my brother in law was talking to me. I told him I wanted to go home and I wanted to cry. So he told me in a quiet voice to go home, and when I was going home that's when he came running outside with a knife and he just cut my neck and he stabbed me in the side, the right hand side, and he stabbed me two times on the back."
The girl survived the attack but only barely. Doctors say she may never walk again and her attacker, who took her to the hospital, has since fled.
Glenda Donis, Mother
"I am very sad what happened to my daughter because I didn't expect that this person would do this to my daughter because when he went to my house he acted nice to us and stuff. I want justice to be done on him because I don't know what will become of my daughter. The doctors say she may never walk again, that is what the doctors told her."
The girl says the relationship which has been on and off for about the past year has been rocky. She told me he has threatened her before but her mother Glenda Donis says she approved of the relationship.
Teen Girl,
"About a month he threatened me that if I can't be for him, I can't be for nobody else and he would do something to kill me."
Glenda Donis,
"I told my daughter that she was underage, I didn't want her to have any boyfriend, but before I have people telling me she is in the streets with a boy, I prefer for her to be home and that is why we accepted that."
Keith Swift,
So you approved of the relationship?
Glenda Donis,
"Well he asked permission and my husband accepted it."
But for sure this girl's parents never consented to this.
Her boyfriend is a student at Sacred Heart College while the girl attends Mopan Technical High School in Benque.
