A former prison officer, an electrician, and a member of the Police Cadet Corps are the men who police say stole $17,000 in office equipment last week from the Sales Tax Department.
As we told you on Thursday, six people were detained and today four men, two of them minors, were charged with burglary and handling stolen goods. The adult suspects are former prison officer Mark Godoy and electrician Clayburn Pascasio. The 17-year-old teens, whose names we won't release because of their ages, told Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord that they were brutalized over the weekend.
One teen claims he was taken to mile 3 and hit in the rib cage with a car jack and was choked until he passed out. He said the horror didn't end there because officers then put his head under a vehicle and threatened to drive over his head. These are serious allegations, so much so that Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord ordered one of the teens be taken to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile in court Godoy and Pascasio were granted bail of $7,500 and two sureties in the same amount. The 17 year olds were released on $3,500 bail and into the custody of their parents. The men are being represented by attorney Michael Peyrefitte. At newstime we were unable to determine if bail was met. On Wednesday night police recovered all of the items that were stolen from the Sales Tax Department at a home on Police Street. Police claim the other loot was found on the suspects.
