He had a storied criminal past – including an arrest for trying to kill Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord in August of 2003, and shooting at Superintendent Edward Broaster a few months ago - but late Friday night 32-year-old Jerome Goff was the one shot, in a ruthless execution style murder in the Lake Independence area. Police are tonight still searching for a motive but he was killed in front of two people – including his girlfriend. We today pieced together Goff’s final moments.

This Chinese shop located at the corner of Santa Barbara and Mahogany Streets is where Jerome Goff along with his girlfriend and a male friend stopped on Friday night at about 11 to make a late night purchase.

The men were in this white Isuzu Stylus. Jerome was the passenger in the front seat. He got out to buy and was walking back when a green car suddenly rolled

up. Witnesses say the driver of the green car pulled out a gun and opened fire.

There was no mistake here – witnesses say the gunman let loose an unremitting hail of bullets. Police say a total of twelve shots were fired. Four of them caught him. Goff was killed on the street. He never made it back into the car alive.

With that the tumultuous and troublesome life of the 32 year old ended here on the street.

Though Goff, seen here in the white shirt on your screen’s right, was accused of shooting at Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord in August of 2003 – he eventually beat that rap. Just prior to the Lord shooting, Goff had been finished serving a prison sentence for shooting at a man. At the time of his death, he had a charge pending in orange walk for possession of a Tec-9 pistol and the charge for shooting at Superintendent Broaster during a high-speed chase though the city’s north side.
