A family on the southside was burnt out of their small home by fire this morning. And what's worse, it appears to be the product of a bitter family dispute. Alfonso Noble visited Boots Crescent and spoke with the owner of the house, Austin Williams. He was renting to Gwendolyn Reneau.

Austin Williams,
"It looks like a family dispute between the people who are renting the house and thing, between mother and son. It looks like some fight between stepfather and stepson and mother and he just threatened to burn down the house and after his mother and stepfather went to the market, he came back and did it. According to his brother in law, his brother in law and stepfather had died and thing and he had a big knife he was threatening them and thing with, that he would do what he did, and that is the reason why no one really tried to stop him...he went into the room and lit a mattress and I don't know if he used gas besides that, I don't know what he used besides that. They usually quarrel and thing because the youngsters don't have any respect for their parents and their parents are soft on them and thing and so they tell their parents anything that comes to their mouths. So that is what I believe led to this because they make it go to far and too far. Thank God they didn't put me out of the house where I rest me head, it is the just the little house where I make a little change to pay my water and light bill and those things but thank God me and my kids still have somewhere to rest our heads."

The building was valued at $5,000 but was not insured.
