But Brian Brown says that's not how it went. He came by our studio today to allege that police planted the gun and then invented a charge. Here's his side of the story.
Brian Brown, Charged for Gun Possession
"The police told me to freeze and a truck pulled up beside my vehicle and they told me to go to the station. The last time I was at the station, they pepper sprayed us and thing so I told them I am not going to the station and I need my lawyer. So by the time I reversed and said I wasn't going, I heard man cocked their gun. So I ran and by the time I got so, I pow pow pow - the man they bust six or seven shots. I dropped on the ground on my belly and all the neighbors ran out and came to scream out. The neighbors said to leave me alone.
Later the men took by an apartment on Penn Road. They searched two yards on Penn Road and they took me in front of a next yard and showed me a gun stuck next to a fence with some bullets on a step. Then later on they took me to the station and said they would charge me for this. They handcuffed me, took my sunshades off, and kept my sunshades. When they had already taken me to the station, they said they would charge me. They had me in the cell and didn't charge me.
While I was down there, four or five police officers came and told me it is a setup and the gun is a licensed police firearm and I had already told them that they had planted the gun on me. So I thought they wouldn't have charged me but by yesterday the word got out and Sunday night the man they brought a charge on me. If you find man with a firearm, you find him with a firearm but you can't come and plant a firearm on a man, a police issued firearm on me."
Keith Swift,
But Brian why would they want to set you up?
Brian Brown,
"Well the man they have a long time beef with me due to George Street thing and due to Mr. Herbert and thing who they took to America. All I want to do is live my life and continue sell my vehicle naturally and let the police get off of that vibe. They can come search my house, search me anytime they see anywhere. I don't have any problem with police searching me because I am clean."
Nonetheless Brown was charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and has been arraigned on that charge.
