32 year old Darrel Grant says someone wants him dead and on Sunday night they went through a lot of trouble to do it. At around 7:15, Grant was shot and run over near the intersection of Vernon and Lakeview Streets. He has a bullet lodged in his right hip, another bullet grazed his right index and middle fingers, and he has a broken leg but he lived to tell the tale. He didn’t want to show his face but Grant told us how the attack unfolded.

“I saw the vehicle hauled up. A woman was driving and three men jumped out. The first time they put the gun to my head, I knocked it away and I got a graze on my finger. The man just jumped out and shot me but I thought I didn’t get shot and they went off. I didn’t think it was something serious but I got weaker and weaker and after I finished talking to a young girl, I fell in front of a vehicle. People thought the vehicle knocked me down but when they got up, they saw that I was shot and then I blank out and woke up in the hospital. Same way I don’t want to call any name same way.”

“All kind of reasons same way. A lot of people would want to see my dead.”

“People wish bad for me. Everyone has their own reason, maybe it is war. I don’t know.”

So you have an idea who did this?
Darrel Grant,
“Yes I know but same way that is that. The world is a cycle.”

So that means there will be retaliation?
Darrel Grant,
“Not really but what goes around, comes around. Same way God isn’t asleep same way.”
According to an official police report, Grant identified two of his assailants as “Teddy” and “Black.” Police have detained one suspect and are seeking the others. According to an official police report, Grant told them that before he was attacked – he was told that it was, “his turn” – because they couldn’t find his cousin Leon Garcia. Grant disputed that account today.
