We told you about the home invasion at Belfoam Factory on the Western Highway on August 14th and while one man was arrested for that, 17 days later, there was another violent assault at the same place. It happened on the night of August 31st at a few minutes to eleven, when watchman Richmond Gillett, was inside the factory and he saw 5 men gathering outside.
Gillett and his wife both went to see what they wanted and that’s when one who was armed with shot gun then pointed it at the couple. But he didn’t use it, instead he physically assaulted them.
Today, police charged two men for the crime. They are 19-year-old Phillip Smith, a student of SJC Sixth Form and Leon Burgess, also 19, a student of UB. In court this morning, the two men were slapped with 5 different charges including aggravated assault, burglary, wounding, harm and damage to property for trying to pry open a burglar barred window.
The men appeared in court #6 in front of Magistrate Sharon Frazer where they both pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bail was denied due to the nature of the offence and their case was adjourned for October 22. Police are seeking 3 other men.
