A man whose name has been in the news many, many times, 23 year old Delroy Matura is back in the headlines tonight, for two things, first he was cleared in a nolle pros and then, shortly after he was shot, again! First, to the Nolle Pros. Matura along with 19 year old Julian Willoughby, had been charged with 2 counts of attempted murder for allegedly attempting to murder 23 year old Sigmund Trapp and 22 year old Dean Williams in a shooting incident that occurred in November of 2006. The pair was freed of the charges today when both victims refused to testify and the crown council entered a nolle pros.
Matura – who had been out on bail - was released, while Willoughby returned to jail to finish out a sentence for robbery. Williams reported to police that he and Trapp were standing by the gate of his home when they were approached by two persons riding on bicycles who opened fire on them. Williams was shot in his thigh and fell to the ground, and was dragged away by Trapp who was uninjured.
Cleared of that charge at ten this morning, by noon Matura had been shot in the area of the Wilton Cummerbatch Field. His condition is unknown at this time – but we’ll have an update tomorrow.
