In October of 2008, former radio personality now businessman Ramon Vasquez was charged with causing harm to a police constable and driving with alcohol limit above the prescribed limit. Eleven months later Ramon Vasquez was acquitted of both charges.

Today Ramon Vasquez in the company of his attorney Lionel Welch appeared in number five magistrate court. After the prosecution closed its case attorney Lionel Welch submitted that his client does not have a case to answer. According to court reports, one of the prosecution’s witnesses, Constable Ronald Sutherland testified that a specimen was taken from the accused but said that he does not know who took it to the evidence room and who kept it there. So there was no chain of custody for the specimen.

For the charge of harm, the complainant, Police Constable Newton Martinez said that on October eleventh, 2008, a struggle ensued between him and Vasquez but PC Martinez did not say it was Vasquez who scratched him. Then according to the medical evidence, Martinez had a scratch on his left arm yet Martinez testified that the scratch mark was on his right arm.
