39 year old Kevin Middleton - the man who was struck in the head last week - succumbed to his injury around 1 o'clock this morning at the KHMH.

On Thursday night between none and ten, Middleton was sitting on his bicycle on Barrack Road - when two men approached him and was then hit on the left side of his head from behind with an object. The blow caused Middleton to fall to the ground in an unconscious state. He never recovered and died this morning. Police say it is now a case of murder.

"We receive information of a man that was hit on Barrack Road on Friday night sometime after 9 o' clock. He was somewhere in the vicinity of Guardian Life Insurance area. He was apparently seated on his bicycle when he was hot from behind - fell to the ground and went into an unconscious state. He was transported to the KHMH where he was receiving treatment but succumb to his injuries sometime around 1 o' clock this morning."

"Not as yet. We are hoping that because of the earliness that this incident took place that may an eye witness would feel free to call us even if you don't want to identify yourself - call the 0-800-922-TIPS number. We are appealing, I keep repeating this number on the means but we really need the assistance of the public because we know that people are afraid to identify themselves. If you call our 0-800 number your identity is kept anonymous."

Police are asking if those with any information can kindly come forward.
