The ninth amendment to the constitution has generated much controversy amongst the intelligentsia but it doesn't seem to have gained much public traction. We say that judging form the 150 or so persons who came out on Saturday morning for a national, unified protest against it.
On Saturday at 11:00, the march went from the Constitution Park at to the Memorial Park, With principal organization from COLA with support from Orange Walk East Area Representative, Marcel Cardona, Will Maheia's PNP, Belizeans for Justice and other groups.
Official estimates put the crowd as high as 225 - while others in the media say it was 150. For COLA, which usually has dozens in its crowds, it is an improvement - but hardly enough to make Belmopan shudder….
