Last night, 7News told you about 31 year-old Dwayne Albert Davis, who was formally charged with the murder of Dr. Ivan Garcia. Well today, he was taken to magistrate's Court and arraigned.
In court, Davis told Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer that this is the first time that he was accused of something like this, and that he was forced to give police a written statement because officers brutalized him, and he didn't know what to do.
Senior Magistrate Frazer made a note of the brutality complaint, and was forced to remand Davis until July 23. As we have reported, Dr. Garcia was found dead in his bedroom at his home in Belama Phase 2 on Monday morning. He had been strangled to death and struck across the head. There were no signs of forced entry into his house, and the only thing which was stolen was his car. That vehicle was recovered on Seventh Street in the King's Park Area, which is in the vicinity of Davis' First Street residence.
