Human shelter is one of the greatest needs in this city, which is blighted by poverty. Today the Rotary handed over a house to a very worthy recipient: she is a single mother of seven, aged five to 16 who had been living in a tiny house without plumbing. Now she has a new, three bedroom 600 square foot house that cost thirty thousand dollars.
That's twice the size of the houses that Rotary usually gives, but as Francis Woods explained, there's twice the need:..
Francis Woods, Rotary
"Rotary normally does a house every year for a needy family. This year we manage to pastor in the area that recommended a family - recommended Stephanie and she have such a large family we went over the normal size house that we normally build and we built her a 20x30 home with 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and of course the living and dining room in one. It's completely plumb and we got an electrician to come in and do the proper wiring and stuff like that. All it need right now is to hook up in the national grid."

"What was your condition like first?"

"It was a bit rough and hectic with the children - 7 children, a single mother has to see that everything have to be done for them so that they could be comforted - give them what they desire. It was a bit rough, but with this it's a great relief."
Francis Woods

"Stephanie has done a great job as a single mother to raise her 7 children. She has them all healthy and they all are in school and it's really a happy family despite the conditions they were living in."
John Searle of Belize Global donated ten thousand dollars. It was put together in two days, with another week to finish it off.
