A man from Ladyville was caught smuggling a large quantity of marijuana just outside Corozal Town yesterday afternoon.
25 year old Bryan Hamilton was driving this red Dodge van through Ranchito Village when Special Branch officers stopped and searched him. They found 21 parcels of marijuana hidden in various compartments of the van.
The weed weighed in at a total of 50 pounds - which is valued at close to ten thousand dollars.
He appeared in Corozal court for drug trafficking this morning where he pleaded not guilty. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that there have been major drug cases before court every month. Magistrate Ed Usher agreed and remanded Hamilton. He was represented by Leslie Hamilton.
Police believe this is high grade Mexican marijuana again being smuggled into Belize.
