Cowo also had an update on that case of a man caught on cell phone camera beating up a woman near the pound yard bridge in Belize City.
He did it in the open street - in view of other men who just looked on - one of them even punched out with him! Well, it turns out that vicious act of abuse was all over a borrowed bicycle:
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
"Reference that incident that went viral on social media; police was able to identify the male person who is Eric Jones and they did an investigation and on yesterday's date he was charged for common assault and he was before the court this morning."
Reporter
"Did the female make a complaint?"
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
"We spoke to the female and she provided some information to the police but didn't actually give a written statement but in this case there were other procedures that we used to continue with the matter."
Reporter
"Are you able to speak about the relationship between the accused person and the victim?"

Supt. Alejandro Cowo
"Well, they know each other well and we understand the incident was due to a bicycle that the suspect had given to the victim and she didn't return it to him and hence the reason he attacked the person for the bicycle."
Today in court, the accused, 29 year old food vendor Eric Jones, appeared before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford.
Jones was read a single charge of wounding.
Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge and received bail of $200 on the condition that he not interfere with the victim.
