Cayo Police conducted a major drug sweep in Belmopan, and found several packages of marijuana, and a box of live ammunition.
This morning, between 5:00 and 9:30, a team of police officers from Special Branch in Belmopan, Special Branch in Roaring Creek, Special Branch in Benque Viejo, the Mobile Interdiction Team, and the K9 Unit all went out on an early-morning search.
They were acting on intelligence, and when they visited a bushy area on Panama Street in Belmopan, they found a black plastic bag, which contained 5 transparent bags of suspected marijuana. They continued to search the area, and that's when they found a second plastic bag, which also contained marijuana. The two bags had a combined weight of 363.9 grams or 12.8 ounces.
Later that morning, the cops executed a search warrant at a home on the same Panama Street in the Salvapan area of Belmopan. They did not find anything illegal at the home, but when they searched a nearby park they found half an ounce of weed.
Finally, the team of police officers searched a hill behind another home. In the bushes, the cops found 3 packages of marijuana: a saran-wrapped parcel, and 2 transparent plastic bags. They had a combined weight of 793.6 grams or a little less than 28 ounces. The search in that same area led the cops to find a transparent plastic bag under a stone. Inside the plastic bag, the officers found box with 50 rounds of.38 ammunition.
