And while the Fort George campaign continues, registration for general elections is likely finished - and that's fortunate because the elections and boundaries office on Lumberyard Crescent which covers fort George, Caribbean Shores, Pickstock and Freetown has been closed. The main office at the CB Hyde building has also been closed - where she also worked.

That's because a staffer from the Lumberyard office died at home yesterday - and it could be COVID related. Her common law husband told police that when he left her at home yesterday afternoon she was complaining that she did not feel well but refused to go to get medical treatment. He says she suffered from asthma, hypertension and recently was complaining of having a high fever. She has tested positive posthumously - we just confirmed that.

Because of the possibility of a COVID cause those two office were closed today until further notice.

A release says the Elections and Boundaries Department assures the public that, further to the press release issued this morning, steps are being taken to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
