And escapees Micheal Faux and Ervin Lanza were no longer out in the cold when today's front passed through. They were caught over the weekend almost four months escape from the Kolbe Prison.

This morning we spoke to Prison C.E.O. Virgilio Murillo about the last two stragglers, the long-drawn-out manhunt, and what he intends to do to keep the inmates within prison walls moving forward.

Virgilio Murillo, Prison C.E.O
"For Kolbe foundation it is a great victory. I just want to say a tremendous thank you to the commissioner of police and the police department as a whole for their unwavering and support and relentlessness in recapturing these guys. I also want to thank the public because I know they played a part in giving us or giving the police or us the information that led to the recapture of all of them. So I cannot overlook them but certainly, it's a big victory for the Kolbe Foundation and the prison as a whole."

"It is a given that the chicken must come home to roost and obviously, they came home to roost and that is what happened but really and truly I don't know the circumstances I haven't the slightest clue why they would have chosen to hang together."

Cherisse Halsall:
"So now for Faux and Lanza and I think I did ask the Commissioner this as well, will they be dealt with any different ways since they were initially in prison for very different crimes."

Virgilio Murillo, Prison C.E.O
"I want to remind the public and remind the media houses that even if a prisoner was wrongly imprisoned, escape is not the solution to their problems. Everybody who knows Faux will tell you that it's not the first time he escaped from lawful custody, he is a repeat offender who has an extensive rap sheet particularly for violent offenses, and he has been coming to prison believe it or not since 2002 that's 18 years going on 19 years ago he's a know gang banger. He has numerous prison rules violations including importing a tank filled with drugs and cell phones in 2019 and maybe that is why his eligibility date for parole as per the judge's sentence is not until 2029."

"Lanza on the other hand is certainly, he has been in prison before, twice for sexual offenses and to the best of my knowledge of him I'm almost sure he was programmed to do what he did and say what he said whatever the case maybe he's a follower in a sense. They ain't no saint."

"It's gonna be one of the most difficult tasks or things that can happen from October the 12th henceforth, we have certainly improved our systems, we have certainly done everything to improve the security of the prison so that prisoners don't feel like they will come here to escape. We've done a lot of things in terms of human resources and in terms of fence and walls and steel, whatever you could think about that would make the prison safer we have done just about everything and it's gonna be one of the harder things but I just don't want to get into the details of what security measures are in place because it compromises the prison more than anything else."

Kolbe Foundation is currently constructing a new state of the art concrete prison tower that will replace one of the old shabbily built concrete towers.
