155, that's the number of women killed in Belize between 2009-and 2020. Each of those women could be deemed just another statistic but if you were to picture them standing in a crowd you'd really be chilled by the brutality of the sheer potential our country has lost.

The last three years has seen a rise in the percentage of female murder victims, a troubling trend according to activists.

And while the Belize district is by far the most murderous for women the second most likely district for a woman to be killed was Cayo with 32 femicides in the last 11 years.
