Tonight, Belize City Police continue to investigate a pair of shootings in Belize City that happened on the same day, in the same neighborhood.

The first one happened last Friday just before 2 p.m. Police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and that's when they found 19-year-old Michael Welch, a resident of George Street, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was standing on George Street when a shooter approached him from the direction of Berkeley Street and fired several shots at him. Today, during a police press briefing, the Deputy Head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch shared more details:

"On Friday last, police responded to a shooting incident at Berkeley Street in Belize City. Upon their arrival, they saw Michael Welch with a gunshot injury to the foot. Investigation reveals that he was in the area when he was approached by a male person, causing the said injuries. He's at the KHMH in a stable condition at this time."

"We have gathered information that he a dispute with some persons from the same area over a bicycle. Thereafter threats were crossed, and he was shot."
