And while the PSU and BNTU are synchronising for a new round of talks with the government, their sister and brother unions haven't exactly been vocal in support - especially those in the utility unions who continue on full pay.

And that's why today, Facebook went a little wooly when there was a post saying that the utilities would be joining the BNTU and PSU in a strike later this week. That was followed by the a very sketchy post - showing a purported release from the Belize Energy Workers Union.

The blurry and super fine print release did not seem legit - and this evening, speaking with KREM News, Assistant General Secretary Marvin Mora spoke ex officio - when he said indeed it is not an official release, but he conceded that the sentiments of support for the PSU and BNTU does resemble a draft release that's circulating. But, even with that, he said they are not planning to strike:

Voice of: Marvin Mora, Asst. Gen. Sec. BEWU
"It is unfortunate that something of this nature has occurred. Belize Energy Workers Union as I mentioned to you before is a very responsible union and in doing due diligence we have a process that we have to go through. That process hasn't even started properly, within the document certain areas are addressed in a different manner, but indeed we are concern about a couple things, especially how this 10% cut is going to affect our brothers and sisters of the teachers union, public service and APSSM. We are very concern because we believe that in this type of economy we don't need to cut cash. Let me say that the Belize Energy Workers Union will never go to a strike unless we have exhausted all our avenues and we are far from there."
