And while 11% of the population vaccinated seems like a grim statistic it may not paint a complete picture. Many would point out that those under 18 aren't eligible for the vaccine and many others would say that those who've recovered from COVID have some sort of immunity, at least for a while.

So, while it seemed that a 70% vaccination rate was a milestone Belize's very young population would be unable to reach, that could change when and if the vaccine is declared safe for teenagers. Here's more from Dr. Beer.

In the United States, the FDA is set to authorize the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents as early as next week.
