We turn back now to the other killings which occurred this weekend, and in Corozal Town, there was a fatal stabbing on Saturday night, well after curfew hours.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Ismael Matura, who was released from prison only 1 day before he was killed. At around 11:17 p.m., police were called to an area on Snapper Street, and that's where they found Matura bleeding out from stab wounds to the body.
Officers rushed him to the Corozal Community Hospital, but Matura succumbed to him injures about half-hour later.
Today, the police spokesperson told the press that at this time, it is believed Matura got into an argument with one of his drinking partners:
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Director of Communications, ComPol's Office
"Police responded to a scene on the corner of Snapper Street and 11th Avenue in the Skeleton Town area of Corozal. Next to a blue drum, they found Ishmael Matura, 29-year-old, with several stab wounds to the body. He was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Our initial investigation so far is that he was socializing with 3 other male persons, one of whom he had spent time with at the Kolbe Foundation. I believe it was at

the Tango 6 building, where an argument ensued between Matura and one of the guys in that group. The person who inflicted the wounds on him was encouraged by his colleagues to assault Matura. So, we have detained 3 of them so far, and we are in the process of recording statements, and hopefully, by the end of today, we can provide a charge or charges on at least one of these individuals who we believe is responsible for taking Mr. Matura's life."
"When Matura was stabbed, he managed to walk off about 30 feet from where he got injured, and he collapsed near a dirt drum. The neighbors in that neighborhood, if you notice, the houses are very close together, called for police assistance. And thanks to their help, we managed to detain all parties that we believe were involved in this fight."
As you heard, Matura and his companions were breaking curfew at the time of the dispute.
