And while the family says there was no known history of abuse, the police are still investigating things from that angle. Today the director of communications, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood explained the details they have gathered so far.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Director of Communications, ComPol's Office
"We gathered that sometime after 2 a.m., shot were heard in the Kings Park area. Police officers responded, and couldn't pinpoint a location, and nobody came out to the police, or to alert us. Sometime around 7, we received another call of an apparent murder/suicide. When officers forced their way into the residence at #15 Fourth Street, Kings Park, they saw Police Officer Arilee Young in the living room area on the floor with apparent gunshot wounds to the body. On the sofa, they saw Sherana Cardenas, her daughter, with apparent gunshot [injuries] to the body. And Robert Glenford Perriott was seen seated in a smaller chair with a weapon in his hand, with gunshot [injuries] to the body also. Our investigations so far would suggest that there were no signs of forced entry, and the door was secured from the inside. So, it appears that Mr. Perriott took their lives, then took his own life."

"When we have murder/suicides, there really is not much to say. It usually goes with a lot of speculations and unanswered questions. But, one thing I can say is that domestic violence may have been a part of this situation. I don't know if you have seen the Commissioner's post on Facebook, where he's asking people to stop suffering in silence and come forward."
"What I have gathered is that our officer may have been suffering from domestic violence and did not reach out to anyone. It is an unfortunate and very sad moment for us because we are the people that try to deal with domestic violence to the best of our capabilities."
But while he says the incident occurred at 2:00am, neighbors say it was until 3:00 that they heard the gunshots. Coupled with Young's mother's statement that she received a text at 2:38, this seems to be a slight discrepancy.
But another much larger one is that while the police claim to have visited the area. The neighbors, in a Neighborhood Watch Group Chat, say they waited for the police to stop, but they didn't. Still, ASP Yearwood denied this account.

"This Neighborhood Watch needs to be careful. They are putting themselves, saying that they called for the police. So, why didn't they come out to the police, when the police responded. When something happens, everybody wants to create an excuse or wants to play a blame game. Our officers responded, and I can tell the Neighborhood Watch that. I am certain of that because I was following the blog. The officers said no one came out to the police. They were trying to establish where the shots were heard."
"Three police vehicles were in that area trying to locate that spot. We are still recording statements with regard to his movement. We know that 1, he should have been on duty at that time because, yes, he's a security guard. But, for some reason, he went back home. We do not know if an argument ensued, or what took place when he went back home. But, yes, the weapon belongs to the company that he works with, and he shouldn't have been home with that weapon. When the firm couldn't locate him, this is what alerted them, and probably, we would have still been going house to house, trying this location, if it wasn't for their help."
