Prominent Doctor COVID Positive

He's been one of the most vocal, fearless and committed public health advocates since COVID appeared in Belize - but tonight Dr. Fernando Cuellar is the one hospitalised with COVID - 19.

7News has confirmed that Dr Cuellar has been hospitalised at Belize Medical Associates with COVID and his respiratory condition is being monitored closely. Among the doctors treating him is Jorge Hidalgo - who's from another private hospital - but considered one of the most capable at managing COVID complications.

According to reports, Cuellar has had two doses of the Covid vaccine - but may have pre-existing conditions.

We are told another prominent private doctor has also been diagnosed with COVID, but is recovering at home.
