This morning, our colleagues from CTV3 News spoke to Matura's mother in Corozal.
She said that since he passed away, Corozal residents have given her multiple versions of what supposedly happened on Saturday night. She said that the most believable account she has heard is that the fight started off a very trivial joke when her son mentioned to his attacker that they had been in prison together.

"I understand that somebody set up a fight out there with my son and another young man and the young man stab my son and he died. That was all, because I was in my bed, so I don't really know what took place. Up to now so many different people came here and gave me different stories. They say "Bolo" set it up, they say they were fighting for territory; drugs territory or something. I don't know, I wasn't there. I can't say why. But what I could say is that my son is not fully mentally correct. Sometimes he is good. He just came out of jail. He smokes drugs and they caught him with the crack pipe, so he came out of jail on Friday night and then Saturday night when he was walking out there, I told him not to go out there, because its already 9pm and its curfew. He said Mom, we don't have curfew, Skeleton Town doesn't have curfew and I said Ismael don't out there, the police will take you, you know that. He said he was going to get a cigarette. I said okay then, you are a big man and he went."
"What I got to understand it's a simple talking when he went out there. He told the young man that he bet him that he and him go to jail so many times, but he that he couldn't go to Tango 6. The young man told him that Tango 6 is for crazy people and he is not crazy and that is what started the argument. Apparently, to some people who were out there and saw the argument, another young man came and pushed the other one who was drunk and arguing about Tango 6 into him and told them to fight it off. And it was right there it happened."
Caroline Matura also explained that last week Friday and Saturday have been a flood of extreme emotions for her. First, her son simply showed up on Friday without warning after he was released from prison for the crack pipe he was jailed for. She was surprised and overjoyed to see him, only to hear 24 hours later, that he had been stabbed to death.
