Turning now to the other traffic accident in Orange Walk that is making the news, 26-year-old Jason Kelly remains in critical condition after he and his girlfriend were knocked down by a drunk driver.
Last night Orange Walk police charged 24 year old Maria Leiva for driving a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribe limit and for driving without due care and attention.
On Wednesday night, Kelly was on his motorcycle with 29-year-old Amy Juarez. They were traveling toward Chan Pine Ridge when they were hit head-on by a Kia SUV, which was going in the opposite direction.
Surveillance footage shows exactly when the impact occurred, which led to fractured femurs for both Kelly and Juarez.
She says, quote, "Jason is in really critical condition, and it pains me with everything that we are going through, especially for him… All I want from my families, friends, [and] followers is a simple prayer… so that my Jason has the strength to make it through." End quote. v His family is asking the public for help in the form of donations to cover his medical bills.
