The first murder of February was reported this morning - and it was especially vicious. Just before 9am, police were called to a farm on the outskirts of Xaibe Village in Corozal where they found the body of 67-year-old Fermin Rivera, a naturalized Belizean. Rivera, who was the farm's caretaker, was discovered in a concrete bungalow house with his hands tied to his legs and chop wounds to his body. It additionally appears that he was bludgeoned to the head. Our colleagues at CTV3 tried to visit the scene of the crime but when they arrived this evening, an unusually large contingent of police were processing the area and barred them from entering the farm.
