And while Lamb was lucky to survive yet another shooting, 30-year-old Mario Sanchez wasn't so lucky. He lost his life this weekend in a fatal accident on the Southern Highway while en route to Dangriga town.
It happened on Saturday morning at 6:30 between miles 11 and 12 on the Southern Highway when Sanchez was traveling in a black Honda Pilot accompanied by Elsworth Lamb, but between miles 11 & 12, he collided with a white towhead. Sanchez was flung form the vehicle and died on the spot. Lamb received treatment but Sanchez was pronounced dead on arrival. Here's more from the police.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
"On Saturday we had a fatal RTA somewhere around mile 11 ½ on the Southern Highway between a Honda Pilot driven at the time by Mario Sanchez, 30 years and what we would want to call a toe head truck that was traveling in the opposite direction and driven at the time by Mr. Jasmine Tillett, we were made to understand by investigators that the Pilot was travelling from the direction of Punta Gorda town towards Dangriga town when the truck collided into it and we also had a passenger that was injured in that accident. He was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital complaining of pain to his body, unfortunately, Mr. Sanchez died on the spot, no."

"We know that what the investigators are saying is that the truck collided into the Honda Pilot so far so we are hoping that that was obtained through the statements obtained from the victim and the driver of the truck. I am certain that an NIP has been served and we know that they've processed the scene properly so we are hoping that sometime soon we will have charges, no."
Police could not say what caused this accident.
