And, while he's keeping focus on that - Patrick Faber felt that Peyrefitte had his eyes on a bigger prize: interim party leader.

Faber specifically referenced that in his letter on Friday - and Shyne Barrow referred to it last week as a virtual certainty.

Of course, it didn't happen: First Deputy Hugo Patt is the interim leader until the convention. So, did the play get thwarted? Peyrefitte said there was no play at all:

Jules Vasquez
"Was it your expectation to become interim caretaker/leader and how did that get derailed if it was in deed the plan?"

Hon. Mike Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.
"Derailed, plan? Jules I am not an actor, I don't aspire to be interim anything, I don't expect to be interim anything. I am a senator, why would I be interim when I could run for leader come March twenty-seventh. So, where people get that plan from… You see, I will say that when people start to mention those things, you make people can't eat and can't sleep, you know, you make some people fret just to mention leader and my name. But no, that was never the plan at all, and I doubt it came into anybody's mind."

Jules Vasquez
"But Shyne said it, at the swearing and Patrick Faber mentioned it in the letter."

Hon. Mike Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.
"Maybe that's what he would have wanted. Maybe thats what Patrick Faber feared the most. I don't know."
