Tonight there is a desperate search for a missing man between the mile 8 community and the John Smith Road. 20-year-old Emir Cansino Junior left a friend's house on Baymen Avenue at 4:00 AM on Monday morning but never made it home. And tonight his family fears the worst. His mother, nurse Sheryl Jones filed a missing person report this morning, and this evening, Cherisse Halsall caught up with his father Emir Cansino Sr. leading the search on a notable feeder road just off the John Smith road - notable because bodies were found there before. We spoke to him about the grim possibilities:

Emir Cansino Sr., Father of Emir Cansino Jr.
"Well, we got some tips saying that they found him out here, so we are here to do a search to see if we find anything."

Reporter
"How are you feeling in this moment searching for your 20-year-old son and at this point searching in the event that he may not be alive anymore?"

Emir Cansino Sr., Father of Emir Cansino Jr.

"I always watch the news and like what they always say sometime you could never reach your doorstep. I talk to him the last time and I told him I don't mess around any anyone, I don't do anyone harm, so they can't say that they would do him for me. Like I always tell him that I could walk any streets at any time in the night and nobody do me anything. I always talk to him and tell him to try be the same. But he has his friends and he likes music and was hanging out with some DJ's and so forth. At the end of the day he has his own crowd that he hangs with and we haven't met any of his friends. His mom said he left with 2 girlfriends to hang out and they say they were with him a little while. My co-worker who he was with says he was only with her for half an hour and then he left with his friends. One friend say that he left around 4am from his house before he went home, but from them we haven't heard anything from him and called his phone and didn't get any answer."

Reporter
"So he left the party with that friend?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"Thats what the friend say that they left the party and went to his house, then he fell asleep and got up and say he was going home. He got on his bike to go home, but he never reached."

Reporter
"Where is his friend's house?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"They told me it's on Baymen Avenue. I don't know specific house, only his mom knows, because they went to see him."

Reporter
"At what point did you realize that he wasn't getting in contact, that he may have been missing?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"Well, he doesn't live with me, he was with his mother and she called me yesterday evening about after 5 and ask if I had heard anything from him and I told her no. But I wasn't at home, I was at one of my friends relaxing and cool out. Then this morning she called me and came to my work to tell me that she went to make a missing report. He is not someone who go out and don't come home like that, he always keep in contact with his mom."

Reporter
"I know she received a tip this afternoon that his body could be out here. How confident are you in that tip?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"One spell they told us to check between miles 2 and 5 on the Western Highway, then they said to check Johnston Road, so we just go and look, because at the end of the day if we don't search, then we won't get head way either."

Reporter
"As a parent whats your gut feeling right now?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"Well, I want my son, he is my first son, like what they say we could hope for the best, but at the end of the day you have to just expect the unexpected too. I just want him to come home, but we just have to wait to see the outcome."

Reporter
"And if you don't get answers tonight, what happens tomorrow?"

Emir Cansino Sr.
"We have to see what will be the outcome, because I listen to news and so many people go missing and never did surface back. We would want him to give him a good funeral, but at the end of the day hope is alive."

And nurse Cheryl's family wasn't alone in their search they were joined by her colleagues from labour and delivery at the KHMH, still dressed in their nurse's uniforms and surgical shoe covers. They banded together to help their friend and colleague in this desperate search for her son.

Search efforts will likely resume in the morning and the family is asking any willing and able volunteers to join the search.

And in the meantime, anyone with any information leading to the whereabouts of 20-year-old Emir Cansino Jr. is asked to call Crimestoppers at 922, use the P3 app, or report the information to the nearest police station.
