The long Labour Day weekend wasn't without bloodshed and tonight, two families are still trying to piece together the circumstances that took their loved ones away from them.

We start with 23-year-old Tariq Ciego. Ciego was at a poolside concert at The Ramada, having fun with his friends, and would have never guessed that death was stalking him. But it was, and when he left the party early that morning, the gunman pounced.

Courtney Menzies spoke to his family today and has this story.

A night of music and enjoyment ended fatally for 23-year-old Tariq Ciego. Ciego was attending a concert at The Ramada and decided to leave before it ended. However, before he could get to his vehicle, which was parked across the street at the MCC grounds, he was shot three times in his back.

And according to his cousin, his body wasn't found until two hours later.

"I came off of work at 4 o'clock because I work at Princess, when I came out on the street, I heard bawling like somebody was screaming from inside MCC so me and my next two friends, I told them it looked like they were raping or killing someone in there. So three of us ran into the building and then I saw the next people that he came with were screaming in the yard, the young lady he came with was screaming, and when I went towards it then the crowd came, I called for the police and they came, and then everybody was rushing and they saw that it was him."

"First they said it was stabbing, but then they said the shots were fired from around 2. And then I came out of work 4, and then they found him same time, after 4. And I still can't process it yet, I don't know how to feel, I didn't know who to call, I was calling everybody and this is a sad news to wake up somebody out of their bed those hours to tell them that a family member just went like that."

And his family could have never guessed someone wanted him dead since they only knew him as a jovial person.

"He always happy, he's always smiling, he stick to himself, he doesn't go out, he doesn't go anywhere and that night he just went to have fun and that's it right there. Everybody is sad, this came as a shock because none of us expected this at all. Nobody expected this."

And the police are having a hard time cracking this case since ASP Fitzroy Yearwood explained that they're short on leads.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"The time between when it's alleged that he left that concert and when his body was found is a wide gap when it comes to crime and investigators are trying to piece together leads that they believe may help them in identifying a suspect."

"We have a lot of different angles that we are looking at because we wouldn't know if there weren't any witnesses at the time the moment that it took two hours for him to be found, we know that even if a witness doesn't want to be identified, they would have called that in."

"Well, like I said, are examining all different angles. We are at a loss for right now. We know that during the daytime you can always see security visibly in a little booth in that parking lot but I must say from personal experience at night the security seems to lack so we would have to do a lot of investigating for this one."

Ciego's mother said she was still in shock, unable to believe that wouldn't see her oldest son alive again.

And at 23, he had no kids, but he treated his niece as his own.
