And while that murder happened on Monday morning, on Monday night, a teenager was fatally shot - in what our sources say may have been a retaliation for Ciego's murder. 19-year-old Erwin Pitter was getting something to eat when he was killed on Mckenzie Street. His family couldn't quite put their emotions into words, saying that they felt that the gunman took a part of them as well. And they lamented that Pitter hadn't even gotten a chance to properly live his life before he was murdered. Courtney Menzies spoke with them today and has this story.

A teenager was gunned down last night, just after 10, leaving his family completely dismayed. 19-year-old Erwin Pitter was out buying food on Mckenzie Street when a white vehicle approached him and a gunman fired several shots, killing him on the spot.

And today, all his sister could do was plead for justice for her brother. She said his murder was the last thing she expected to hear, especially since she'd just been with him earlier in the day.

Voice of: Britney Jones, Sister of Deceased
"Like around 6 this morning, I get up and I saw so much missed calls, I didn't know what it was but it was from a lot of different people and when I got the news, I read a text that said my brother got shot behind complex by the field and it was very sad because yesterday I was here with him, sitting home, and he is not a troublemaker, he don't have friends, he stay home, from work to home, he doesn't have friends, he doesn't mess with anybody. He wasn't a troublemaker where I could say they shot him for something. I don't know what they shoot him for but whosoever did it, we will leave it to God. Everything is left in God's hands. But that's my brother and I miss him very much."

"I always see it hit other people but didn't know it would hit me, I just spoke to my brother yesterday, and we were talking, laughing and happy, he just gave me a little money and told me buy something for his niece and nephew because I have three kids, he loves them."

"We want justice, we don't know who it is but if the police could help us find who it is, we need justice, we need that because at the end of the day, his life just can't go like that, he is young. I'm 23 years old and I have 3 kids, my brother hasn't even started a life yet."

And he'll never be able to enjoy the music he once loved, but according to his sister, he left a mark on everyone who knew him.

"He's not a troublemaker, he doesn't mess with anyone, he is somebody who beats drums, he likes to Punta, he likes to dance, he's somebody who is always happy. You could sad and he will bring you up, he will always build you up, he will give you his last, he will take out his last out of his pocket and give you at the end of the day. He would never watch you hungry for a plate of food. So at the end of the day, anybody that knows or hears anything, just inform the police and as his sister, we want justice."

"You see me, it's like they took half of me because I have so much brothers and sisters but out of all of them, me and he were close, he used to be the one that comes to my house, take care of my babies, look out for us. So at the end of the day, when I got the call it broke half of me, that's my brother, I will always love him, all we need is justice. I'm a mother and I'm a sister so that's all I had, they took away a lot from me."

And according to ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, after the shots were fired, the police reportedly began pursuing a vehicle.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"I know that police were following a vehicle, whether or not they caught him they did not relay in this report, I can only go as to what they have revealed so far and certainly if anything transpired from that vehicle that was searched I will request that information today."

"We have people that have been detained for questioning but that's as far as it goes and whether they become suspect then I could release more information about that."

And while they continue to investigate, Pitter's family holds their breath, hoping that the killer of this teenager can be brought to justice.

We note that when the police stopped the vehicle that had fled the murder scene - a known gang member - believed to be linked to the other murder victim was found inside.

Pitter's father also passed away less than a year ago.
