And in crime news, a prison officer is lucky to be alive after a jammed gun saved his life. 39-year-old Miguel Perdomo was walking on Causarina Street with his 6-year-old son yesterday around 11:30 when he heard the child yell, "Dad!" At that moment, he heard the click of a trigger being pulled right next to his ear.

It seems a gunman had snuck up behind Perdomo and was planning to execute him in front of his son, but the gun snapped. When Perdomo spun around, he saw the gunman with his back turned, apparently trying to crank the gun. Perdomo yelled at him to "hold it down" because he was with his son, and when the gunman couldn't get the firearm working again, he dashed off towards Poinsettia Street.

Perdomo grabbed his son and ran in the opposite direction, towards Vernon Street. We attempted to speak with him today, but due to the nature of his job, he was unable to give comment.
