As we told you in our first segment, Mica Goodin is facing removal as Belize City Deputy Mayor.
And the soon-to-be former deputy mayor has had a tumultuous career, from even before he was elected. Truth is that many of the times Goodin made the news, it was because he'd had some outburst, or meltdown or raging Facebook post.
He's had disagreements with the mayor, allegedly been assaulted inside City Hall, had his portfolios stripped, and now, the Council wants him gone as deputy mayor, another dagger thrown at his feet.
But is this really the end for Goodin? Or will he make a comeback, as he's done plenty of times before? Courtney Menzies took a look at the peaks and valleys if the public life of Micah Goodin.
Micah Goodin - he's gone from young poet, to justice warrior, to youth advocate, to deputy mayor, but now, his slow and steady ascent has come to a screeching halt, and a few paces backward.
But this isn't the first time Goodin has found himself in a precarious position - in fact, his political career has been one long rollercoaster ride.
But before he was a politician - he was a poet. He participated in 2012's National Festival of Arts as a "poster youth" - an outstanding youth representing the Belize District.

Micah Goodin, Poster Youth for Belize

"What if I told you that I never enjoyed the distasteful kisses and one of the many disgraceful wishes in my head is to keep you far from my heart but close to my bed. Each time I said I love you, I like you less."
And his passion for words was matched by his devotion to his country - almost decade ago, he was fighting on behalf of the youths of the country - youths like him who wanted their voices heard.
And in 2012, he stood up for the entire country when his organisation, Nation Builders, joined the Belize Coalition for Justice.

"The revolution will sit on your doorsteps. It will invite itself into your homes. It will watch over you while you sleep. For too long, we've been sleeping. Wake up before your sleep turns into a coma. Belize is in dire need of a second revolution."
And perhaps Goodin felt the revolution would come with the PUP. He began as a member of the Belize Youth Movement, even hosting the Vibes Radio Show. But one night, he quit spontaneously via Facebook after the PUP higher-ups cancelled an episode because of an "unwelcome guest."
And he has used the platform before to fire shots at then-party leader Francis Fonseca and former PUP standard bearer, Yasmin Shoman.
And Goodin's dynamite demeanour kept blowing up even after he was elected into the Belize City Council. In 2020, Goodin was caught on camera having a tantrum in front of the Queen Street Police Station - reportedly a domestic dispute.
And back in 2018, only 52 days after he'd taken office, he took to Facebook again to say that he would not be seeking re-election and that he'd lost all confidence in Mayor Bernard Wagner.
But a little Council Kumbaya and everything was okay a couple weeks later.
That was, until the following year, when Goodin's fuse burned down, again. He'd reportedly blown up on the city administrator and then got into a shouting match with her driver.
The other Councillors came out against Goodin, and he was stripped of his portfolios.
In response, he took to his words and his favourite social media, and posted, "A black barefoot boy from Majestic Alley was to never rise up and fight for the poor and marginalized people of Belize City. The bigger heads loved me on the campaign trail because the common people could have identified with my struggle...But yet they did not want me to sit at the table when all was said and done."
But just like before, Micah and the Mayor made up and, as you know, Goodin did seek re-election in 2021, and won.
But less than a year later, the mayor reshuffled the portfolios and Goodin - and other councillors - were stripped of some of their responsibilities.
But regardless of Goodin's fiery past, he rose to the second highest position in the City Council - deputy mayor.

Micah Goodin
"Personally, this is a huge achievement for me, this is a huge achievement for my community because young boys like me don't grow up and become the deputy mayor of Belize City and so it is a sacred opportunity to do what is right and serve my people to the fullest of my abilities."
But that "sacred opportunity" was squandered less than two months after that interview when Goodin was involved in a city shootout that resulted in injury for a Youth Shadow Councillor.
Two men were arrested that night - one who'd allegedly fired shots from inside Goodin's vehicle, and another who had fired back, reportedly in self defence.
And the Council felt it was behaviour unbecoming of a deputy mayor, and yesterday, during a meeting, they decided that for Goodin, it's either resign or be removed from the post.
And while we've tried, and tried again, to get a comment from Goodin, all we get is blue checkmarks.
So, is this the end for a young, once-promising and passionate poet turned politician? Or is this simply another dip in his wild rollercoaster ride?
And it's not just his own colleagues that want him to resign. The UDP issued a press release today saying they agree with the PUP City Council and they are calling on Goodin to step down - but not just as deputy mayor, as a councillor too.
The release states, quote, "Goodin and friends forced residents of Belize City to endure a horrifying and traumatic ordeal when he acted as the runaway driver in a reckless alcohol influenced street shootout that endangered the lives of scores of civilians. This alone should be enough to warrant Goodin's removal from the council." End quote.
The UDP goes on to say that Goodin also took little care for his passenger, who had been grazed by a bullet, dropping him off a block away from his home instead of taking him to the hospital.
Additionally, the opposition feel that the mayor may be covering up some of Goodin's dirty deeds, since the Council's own release said that this shootout is only one of the matters that have come to the forefront concerning Goodin. The UDP is now also calling on the mayor to make public the details of the other matters.
