Resign or be removed, that's the ultimatum facing Deputy Mayor of Belize City Micah Goodin tonight. And we can tell you for sure that it doesn't look like he'll be resigning, since - as we understand it - Goodin had until the end of business yesterday to do so.
So, now, according to a council release - he be served with notice that a motion will be brought in 14 days to remove him from this capacity. This motion was supported by 9 councillors.
And while there were all kinds of wild reports of political upheaval coming out of the meeting the mayor today told me it was orderly and resolute.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor Of Belize City
"Well, that was a regular caucus meeting, that was planned long before the events that unfolded just prior to that meeting and prompted the councillors led by councillor Vaughn. He moved for an adjournment for an urgent matter in respect to our deputy. He was given full notice. He met the, well according to the regulations you much give 24-hour notice if you would move to adjournment and you have a matter of urgent public requirement and so he moved that it was in the agenda. And again it wasn't a Bernard Wagner decision it was a collective decision by the nine councillors that were in the room at that time. They knew that it was on the agenda the deputy mayor as well he knew that it was on the agenda and he chose to leave the room just before that motion was being tabled by councillor Vaughn. Councillor Novelo I believe just prior to that event as well excused himself. It was an emergency he indicated to the rest of the councillors and myself and the chairman that he had an urgent situation and he had to excuse himself from the meeting so there were nine councillors in there who unanimously supported councillor Vaughn's motion which really set out or triggered the fourteen days period where the deputy is given the opportunity to resign and then just the. He would bring a motion at the next caucus which is fourteen days from now to ask that the council remove him as deputy mayor."
