So, that's no nonsense ultimatum deputy Goodin faces.

And how did we get here? Well, the Council's press release says, quote "Deputy Mayor Goodin engaged in a series of actions that do not align with our core values." End quote.

But, there's something more than the shootout Goodin was caught in the middle of two weeks ago; the release speaks about, quote, "The gun-related incident and other matters that have now come to the forefront, all of which involve dishonourable behaviour." End quote.

Now, that is intriguing - because what could those other matters be? There have been a number of allegations directed at Goodin over his years in public life.

We asked the Mayor to be more specific - and he pointed to document leaks:

Bernard Wagner, Mayor Of Belize City
"At the end of the day the nine councillors in that room weighed in and it's not just the incident that the deputy mayor was involved in there is a series of incidents or misjudgments I would say that triggered this type of decision."

"I'm saying that there was a series of misjudgements. There was the matter of the sanctity of the caucus, the documents of the caucus, the discussions of the caucus, what is discussed in the caucus in having many many instances where confidential matters have been put out there in the press and so we just feel. The councillors felt that due to all those events they don't believe that at this time the deputy should be serving in the capacity of that seat and that is where we stand."
