There was another home invasion and Hilux theft in the Cayo district - this one in the Monkey Falls area of Cristo Rey. But this time, police have recovered the pickup.

It happened on Friday morning at around 7:30 when three masked invaded the home of 30 year old Deidra August and 33 year old Demery Harris.

Deidra told police she was outside with her two children when the robbers pulled up in an SUV and the masked men, dressed in all black forced her and the kids inside and tied them up with duct tape. Her son screamed and his father and a neighbor came running. When they got to the house, they were greeted by a masked man with a gun - who also tied them up. The men then ransacked the house and demanded the keys for the 2016 Toyota Hilux in the driveway. The family gave them the keys and they left them with their mouths taped and the door locked.

Police later reviewed the BAHA surveillance camera at the Bullet Tree crossing and saw that at 8:10 am, a gray KIA SUV with an auto rental logo on the driver door was heading towards El Pilar Road, and behind it was the grey Toyota Hilux.

Police communicated with their Guatemalan counterparts about the stolen Hilux. In under two hours - the cops on that side reported that the pickup had been found in Esquipulas, Guatemala.

But, the investigation wasn't finished there - because the rental bore the sticker of a car agency in Esperanza Village - and when police went to follow up, the saw the same Gray KIA in the parking lot. Police traced the records and found that it had been rented to a man from San Jose Succotz Village. Police went to search the man's home but he wasn't there. He is wanted but believed to be in Guatemala.
