UDP Politician "OJ" Elrington is usually at the head table of press conferences in which the UDP is harshly criticizing the ruling PUP. This weekend, however, he made the news because he was involved in an accident on Princess Margaret Drive.
It was a minor accident, a mere fender bender - but it's news because the politician didn't have insurance and seems to have made an illegal turn.
Ellington's Ford Explorer clipped a Nissan Cube coming out of a U turn. If you ask Elrington, however, the driver of the vehicle rear-ended him, and he is implying that the other party is at fault.
But it's not that clear cut because Elrington was coming out of an illegal turn in front of the KHMH.
Today, the Police Communications Officer was asked about the accident, and here's his brief comment on it:

"I know that's what he was charged for drove motor vehicles without insurance, driving without due care and attention - traffic-related offenses. The accident that he was involved in was in that area where the ambulance crossing is, in front of the KHMH. Unfortunately that night, I drove past that area while police were talking to him and another driver. The vehicles were already cleared from the little crossing area. Actually, his vehicle was parked more by the burger stand, and another vehicle a little by the Elementary entrance. We all know that this crossing has no exception for anyone, not even the police. We have to go around, and you're not allowed to make any U-turns there, not even the Fire Service. That clearly is for an ambulance only, the use of an ambulance, and there is a sign there that also indicates that. I don't know - I heard on the news yesterday, actually, that he refused to sign his acknowledgment form. That's your right. If you refuse to do that, it's your right, but I know that our officers have already levied charges, and he will have his day in court to answer to them and defend himself against those."
