Pfizer vaccines for children 5-11 are now available in Belize. They arrived in the country as a donation from Slovakia on Saturday.

It's a long-awaited boon for our vaccination numbers which are currently stalled at 50.32%

But will parents take their precious young ones in to get the shot? Or will the fear of side effects deter them?

It's a relevant question tonight just one day before another batch of adult Pfizer vaccines expires.

Now, most kids will take the vaccine in school but some parents who do believe that the vaccine is the right choice are wasting no time getting it for their children. We spoke to one dad and a pair of 11-year-olds this afternoon when we met up with them at the Central Health region.

A release from government lats week says, quote: "As of 23rd May 2022, 31,803 or 54.56% of the target population of children ages 12 to 17 years have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 26,628 or 45.68% of the target population have been fully vaccinated." End quote.
