The weekend that was, May 27th, 28th, and 29th saw the return of Belize's first Agriculture and Trade show in two years.
And, despite the generally rainy conditions, Belizeans were enthusiastic about its return with 29,137 people visiting the show. Tonight, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise in a press release said that it considers the event a quote: "huge success."
By now you know that the only snag in the weekend came when a bull jumped the rails of the rodeo and ran straight into the crowds of people. Videos on social media showed scenes of panic with attendees doing their best to avoid the animal as it ran at full speeds past their stalls.
Still, it had a more intimate if frightening exchange with one fruit vendor when it stopped by his cart and stared him straight in the eyes.
The Ministry calls the incident regrettable, but they say that they are quote: "grateful that no one was seriously injured." Tonight they're assuring the public that the animal was quickly returned to its pen by the rodeo team. The proposed dates for the next National Agriculture and Trade Show 2023 are April 28, 29, and 30, 2023.
