Last night there we broke the news that well-known media personality from Western Belize Javier Gutierrez had been detained pending a charge of sexual assault.
Well, it turns out - he was facing two charges of that crime - and he was charged for both of them last night at the Benque Viejo police station.
The charges date back to June of last year. According to the one report we have seen the assault occurred on the 20th June, 2021.
Gutierrez was a site manager for the Belize Border Management at the Western Border and according to an arrest warrant, he is accused of putting his hand under a female worker's shirt and touching her breast.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on May 16th.
Gutierrez got the privilege of being bailed by a Justice of the Peace and is expected to appear in court on Thursday, June 2nd for arraignment.
