And while that officer luckily didn't cause a serious traffic incident while lying on the road, one did happen this morning at the corner of Cleghorn Street and Slaughterhouse Road. A pickup truck ran one of the most widely ignored stop signs in the city, causing a grey pickup to ram into it.
Courtney Menzies was on the scene this morning and told us what happened next:
Three residents had to be rushed to the hospital after a collision between two vehicles swept them off of their bicycles. It happened at the corner of Cleghorn Street and Slaughterhouse Road around 10:30 this morning and the victims include a man, a woman, and her child.
The driver of this grey Nissan Frontier explained that he had the right of way but the red Ford Ranger came charging across the intersection. The impact sent the Ranger spinning, which caused the trucks rear end to mow down three people on two bicycles.
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"I was coming down towards Slaughterhouse Road when suddenly I see a red vehicle fly past me and I tried to stop but it was too hard. I couldn't stop so I had to crash into the person."
"Apparently, I couldn't see anybody coming and when I heard the cry, it was too late, the people were really hurt, the vehicle swung and with the back, it carried the people."
Courtney Menzies:
"What is the police telling you because you know they had the stop sign, not you."

Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"Well, right now, we're just taking measurements and so, they still haven't said anything yet."
And while there were no fatalities, Mai is suffering from some pain but he says he's more worried about the male victim.
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"I have some pain on my neck, it is part of the feeling, but we have to see what will be the end result of it. To me, it's only the male, the male is the one that really concerned me."
Courtney Menzies:
"And he was bleeding."
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"He was bleeding bad, he had several cuts."
But for now, all Mai can do is wait to find out his condition, and to see what will be the outcome of the police's investigation. But for now, he told us not having a vehicle will affect his livelihood.
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"My vehicle is very damaged, I don't know how badly it is, but I won't be able to drive it off, they have to tow me."
Courtney Menzies:
"And you need your vehicle to do your work?"
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"That's the only one I have, that's my work and pleasure vehicle."
Courtney Menzies:
"And what type of job do you do?"
Fernando Mai, Involved In Road Traffic Incident
"Construction."
They were rushed to the hospital with various degrees of injury, but no fatalities have been reported.
