Last night we told you about Ella's Cool Spot the popular restaurant in Hopkins that had burnt down. Well, tonight fire has claimed another popular locally owner tourist spot. And just like Ella's, it was a thatch structure.
It's the Sports bar and chill out spot named Jah Mundo in the Finca Solana, area of Corozal.
The blaze which started yesterday evening at about 5:15 devoured the thatch roof and wooden walls.
And this evening, we spoke to owner Efrain "Beep" Phillips via phone. He told us how it all started and said he's determined to rebuild.

"The fire started around 5:15 yesterday evening."

"At what point did you discover that the building was on fire?"
Voice of: Efrain Phillips
"I was out of town in Corozal area and the neighbours called me and my caretaker had just left to do an errand around and he was on his way back. When I called him, he was just arriving at the spot and the first palapa was already on fire. They had already called the fire department. By 12 minutes after I got the call, the fire department was already trying their efforts to contain the blaze that. It started from a wall fan and somehow it sparked and it catch. There was a sofa just below the fan. I guess that the main area. The whole roof is thatch everything burned."

"How long have you been operating that business there?"
Voice of: Efrain Phillips
"We've been open for a little over a year and I've been working on the project for 5-6 years now."
Reporter
"Any plans to rebuild?"
Voice of: Efrain Phillips
"Yeah, I've had good support from my staff, I spent the entire day with my staff, we have an eight member staff and they and their families were here today cleaning up with a lot of friends and customers came to support me and it was a tremendous help and we took down most of the stuff and everybody encourage me that I can't give up now, I just got to rebuild."
Jah Mundo had been operating for just about a year.
